Surge pricing (parking)
Dynamically raising the hourly rate when occupancy crosses a threshold, to ensure stalls remain available for late arrivals.
Surge pricing in parking is borrowed from rideshare and works on the same principle: when supply is constrained, raise the price to clear demand. ParkDwell lets you define surge tiers per rule set: e.g., "if the lot is >85% full, multiply the hourly rate by 1.5×; if >95%, by 2×." Surge is announced to incoming drivers before they commit, which keeps it from feeling sneaky. Properties that enable surge typically see 8–15% revenue lift on peak days without any change in customer satisfaction — the price did the rationing instead of the wait.
